About Jordan

Hey! I'm Jordan – a (nearly) 30 year old software engineer from the Central Belt of Scotland.

If you're new here, this is where I ramble about many aspects of my life, but you'll find that most of my posts centre on my primary interests:

• Software: From writing embedded applications that make sand think, all the way to scalable web applications – and everything in between. I also have a big itch for sane DevOps and good developer experience.
• Photography: It's more of a passive interest that comes to life when the mood strikes, but my style is very candid – just capturing a moment of life and appreciating it for how it really is. • Sci-fi: I've been interested in it from an early age, with Stargate SG-1 being the show that really drew me in. I've explored a ton since then, and I think a lot of the lessons sci-fi shows tend to teach have really shaped me as a person. With the world that we live in today, it gives me a bit of hope that humanity will figure out our shit eventually.

When I'm not working or geeking out, I can usually be found relaxing at home with my three cats (Aloy, Opal, and Sobie), dining out, spending time with family, or having a few pints while catching up with friends – the good stuff in life.

I can't promise that my posts will be useful – I aim to let the words flow naturally and hope for a good result. I've found that if I try to be too fancy, posts never leave my drafts and nobody gets to enjoy (or hate) them.
